The stylish Alma Papa baby crib from bloom has all the functionality and quality you need in a full-size crib, with one innovative twist: It folds for storage when not in use, without compromising sturdiness or style. Please Note: Due to its European design, the Alma Papa crib is not compatible with US standard sized crib mattresses and requires the purchase of a bloom Alma Papa Coco Mat Mattress.

the giggle criteria: We've narrowed down the choices by picking only the best products out there. In other words: if we sell it, we love it, and we think you will, too! Each year, we talk to tons of parents to find out what's most important to them when it comes to baby and kids products. The result? Every product we offer goes through a rigorous selection process and must meet at least three of the following criteria to be included in our assortment:

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lepine Perfect for small spaces! My husband and I love our Alma Papa Crib. Originally, we were drawn to it due to its clean lines & simple colors, but what we truly love is it fits in our very cramped one-bedroom NYC apartment. AND we get tons of compliments on it! Rated 4 out of 5 by martined Love the Grey Color We got this crib for 2 reasons, one was the size (it fits great in our NYC apartment) and the other was the great grey color. It is very unique and looks great in the room! March 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Depot Looks great! We purchased it in the grey and it looks great! I loved the fact that its collapsible, but once we set it up in the nursery it isn't so large that we will even need to use the function yet. We will most likely collapse it and put it away once the baby has out grown it. If you want to see the color I saw it at the Long Island store because we were skeptical at first about the color. A:While Bloom's Alma Papa Crib is not GreenGuard certified at this time, it meets and/or exceeds CPSC, CPSIA, and ASTM requirements.
In addition, Bloom's dedicated to helping families build healthy indoor environments and their Alma Papa crib features sustainable wood, recyclable metals and plastics, plus low-VOC finishes.
Q:Does the mattress only have the one position shown or can it be elevated for younger babies?
A:Bloom's Alma Papa crib mattress support has two positions -- begin with the mattress support in the top position for easy acccess to your newborn, and then lower the mattress support once your baby begins showing active signs of movement, around 6 months old. Click on the orange "See Full Details" button on the product page for a complete list of features and benefits.
Q:What type of wood is this made of? Are there mdf or plywood components?
A:As a global distributor – and a giggle pick! - bloom is made in Vietnam, and is committed to meeting and exceeding the highest safety and other product standards required throughout the world.
As a global distributor, bloom typically launches product in the UK and Europe first (specifically EN716 for alma), thereby meeting British and European standards -- which the company considers equal to or more stringent than USA standards. bloom also meets and exceeds the Australia/New Zealand standards (specifically AS/NZS 2195 for alma) – widely considered the toughest in the industry. All bloom products, alma included, meet and exceed ASTM standards (specifically ASTM F406 for alma) required to sell in the USA. In addition to that, bloom products meet and exceed US CPSIA requirements.
A:Bloom's Alma Papa crib is considered a "specialty-size" crib, and requires the Bloom Alma Papa mattress and bedding that's been specifically made for the Papa.

Q:Specifically which safety standards does alma papa meet?
A:Bloom's Alma Papa meets and/or exceeds the following safety standards:
EN716:2008 – Standards for Folding Cots
ASTM F406:2009 – Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs
16CFR1509 – ASTM Standard for Non-Full Size Cribs
SOR/826-962 – CPSC Cribs and Cradles Recommendation
ASTM F2710:2008 – Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Commercial Cribs

Q:I have the Alma mini crib. Is there something I can buy to convert it to the Alma Papa Crib in toddler form?
A:Bloom's Alma Mini Crib is rated for use from birth to age 2, and is not convertible/expandable for additional years' use. Bloom's Alma Papa Crib is rated for use from birth to age 4, and will convert to a toddler bed with the optional Alma Papa Toddler Rail. Like the Alma Mini, the Alma Papa folds for storage when not in use, but, unlike the Alma Mini, the Papa is considered a specialty-sized full-size crib.
Q:Does Alma Papa come fully assembled and folded? Does it come in 1 box? What are the box(es) dimensions?
A:The beauty of the Alma line - both the Alma and Alma Papa - is that it really is a “no assembly required” system. Alma’s come folded like an accordion, ready to open up and place the base inside. For the Alma Papa, an allen key is provided for a couple quick finishing steps. Bloom estimates the entire process takes less than 10-15 minutes. Super easy! The crib comes in two boxes and the mattress is sold separately and ships in its own, additional box. Box dimensions are: 8.5” x 40” x 29.75” and 9.5” x 40” x 29.75” for the two crib boxes.
